Hi, my name is Sam and I am one of the owner operators of Mackay K9!
Growing up on property in country Victoria, my love of animals started with riding, training, and competing horses in Showjumping and Eventing. After moving to Mackay with my husband in 2009 and starting our family that love moved to training, working, and competing dogs. My German Shepherd Ripley and I gained our RE (Rally Excellent) and CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) titles and now he has since retired, I am developing my new German Shepherd Dog Halo.
I love being a Dog Trainer in Mackay! As well as having 10 years of experience in training dogs at all levels, I am qualified through the NDTF in Training and Behaviour. Meeting amazing people and dogs and helping them to build better relationships and open lines of communication between them is one of the best parts of our job.
When I’m not training dogs, and with the incredible support of my husband, my life is that of a busy mum running around after 3 beautiful kids.
From 8-week-old puppies to seniors, from basic obedience to aggression and behaviour modification, I can’t wait to meet you and your dog and help you achieve the best friendship possible.
Hi, I’m Steph and I’m a “Trainer in Training”here at Mackay K9.
I’ve always had a passion for animals. This included petstitting, pet photography and now training. I’ve always had dogs growing up and found my passion in training with my own German Shepherd, Ollie. I brought Ollie to Mackay K9 in 2020 and that’s where our training journey began. Since then I’ve introduced Raven (Labrador) and my newest addition Kovu (German Shepherd).
I’m working towards certification in the NDTF course and I aspire to have Raven certified as a Therapy dog to help provide Animal Assisted Therapy to people.
My favourite part of helping people train their dogs is seeing the successes and relationships built between dog and owner.
